About the Role

The Dietitian will work alongside the Multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical nutrition and dietetic services to clients/patients using evidence-based clinical practice skills. Ensures practice is in accordance with the Dietitians Australia (DA) Professional Standards and Code of Conduct and SJGHC policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nutrition and dietetic services to patients/clients and/or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and/or outpatients.
  • Coordinate the provision of special dietary requirements of patients.
  • Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering, and allied health professionals within the Division, and external agencies, as appropriate.
  • Use nutritional knowledge to act as a consultant to the hospital catering service to inform menu development and compliance with the relevant hospital Nutritional standards.
  • Document patients' medical nutrition therapy in the approved manner.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary activities, such as team meetings, ward rounds, or case conferences, as required.
  • Participate in the delivery of education programs within the dietetics service and for other caregiver groups within the Division.
  • Develop and review dietary education resources.
  • Participate in other hospital activities as assigned.
  • Supervise, instruct, and assess dietetic students in approved clinical teaching programs in liaison with the Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to appropriately apply Evidence-Based Practice and dietetic knowledge to patient/client management. Furthermore, you will have the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and have well-developed organization and time management skills.
