About the Role

The Office for Early Childhood Development is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead the management of complex policy matters related to Closing the Gap and Aboriginal early childhood development, education, and care.

This is a critical role that requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in managing complex policy matters, high-level strategic thinking, political acumen, and the ability to navigate sensitive issues at both state and national levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of specialist contributions to critical state and national committees to influence, inform, and guide both state and national strategic policy.
  • Strategically manage politically sensitive issues at both the state and national level.
  • Develop and implement effective governance, reporting, and accountability frameworks.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities and organizations.
  • Provide expert analysis of research and data to inform policy decisions.
  • Lead high-performing teams dedicated to continuous improvement and achieving government policy objectives.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in working with Aboriginal people and communities and understanding of culturally responsive practice concepts.
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Aboriginal stakeholders to ensure the Aboriginal voice is a key component of policy development.
  • Extensive experience in analysing and evaluating complex and sensitive policy issues and developing policy options under broad direction.
