About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic leadership within a dynamic local government organisation. The role involves overseeing a broad range of critical functions to ensure the continued success of council operations and the delivery of essential services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Lead the development and execution of strategic plans and initiatives to drive organisational growth and improvement.
  • Financial Management: Oversee financial management, including budget preparation and capital projects, to ensure the council's financial stability and sustainability.
  • Corporate Governance and ICT: Manage corporate governance, ICT systems, and business support functions to ensure the council's compliance with statutory requirements and effective risk management.
  • Operational Improvement and Service Delivery: Drive operational improvements, service delivery, and organisational efficiency to enhance the council's performance and reputation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government and community groups, to promote the council's interests and achieve its objectives.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, project management, or local government.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: Extensive senior leadership experience in local government or a similar environment.
  • Business Skills: Strong capability in financial management, strategic planning, and organisational development.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage diverse functions, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
