About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our Corporate practice in Australia, reporting directly to the Australian Managing Partner Rebecca Kelly. The ideal candidate will have a strong employment background, gained within a large-scale international or regional top-tier firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on compliance with local laws and regulations, instructing and liaising with correspondent law firms across the region;
  • Acting for and advising global, multinational, and local clients on a range of issues, including start-up employment infrastructure, corporate governance, and senior executive incentive schemes;
  • Advising clients on large-scale restructuring exercises, including employee communications and drafting documents;
  • Advising clients on structuring issues;
  • Advising on workforce conduct issues and other internal issues, including carrying out fact-finding and internal investigations on behalf of clients, implementing recommendations;
  • Providing advice and support to clients on a full range of employment issues, including recruitment and sponsorship procedures, remuneration and benefits packages, grievance and disciplinary procedures, and issues arising on the termination of employment;
  • Supporting the corporate department with employment issues arising out of transactions, such as undertaking employment due diligence, drafting warranties and indemnities in agreements, and the transfer of employees;
  • Drafting and amending employment contracts, employee handbooks, policies, and procedures, and other employment-related documentation;
  • Advising clients across a range of sectors, including energy, transport, mining & resources, construction & engineering, insurance and reinsurance, financial services, telecommunications, and information technology, on employment-specific issues arising in these sectors;
  • Defending clients on large-scale and complex employment disputes;
  • Advising clients on the settlement of disputes and drafting settlement agreements;
  • Advising clients on immigration matters.

About You

We are looking for a Senior Associate level lawyer who is Australian or dual-qualified with over 6 years' post-qualification experience to join our Corporate practice. The ideal applicant will have worked extensively on employment-related matters, with Australia-wide experience being an advantage.
