Job Description
This role is integral to our team, contributing significantly towards shaping and achieving our vision and goals within their scope.
As the initial point of contact, this Medical Receptionist ensures smooth patient flow with minimal interruptions by effectively using time management skills and clear communication while observing patients' demeanour in waiting.
Excellent patient care relies heavily on precise and timely medical administration processes. This individual will support the environment to foster teamwork within the team and the organisation as a whole.
Staff participate in collaborative activities and contribute to a positive workplace culture that promotes the ethos and values of a respected Community Controlled Organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Actively contribute to implementing the Model of Care with emphasis on leading and supporting the medical reception function.
Ensure efficient patient flow through effective use of clinic calendars, display exceptional phone manner when taking calls or messages.
Ensure appropriate handling of GP referrals, contribute towards ensuring recall function aligns with organisational Policies and Procedures.
Ensure handling of patient correspondence aligns with organisational Privacy Policy and Procedures.
Commit to ongoing continuous quality improvement processes with regular reviews into efficiency of service provision.
Contribute towards ensuring Medical Service Billing function aligns with organisational Policies and Procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Current First Aid & CPR certification, Certificate III Business Administration (or equivalent), previous experience working in administration and/or service coordination roles, experience working within a Community Health Service, previous experience working with electronic Patient Management Systems, knowledge and understanding of Australian Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) and the Medicare system and Practice Incentive Programs (PIP), National Police Check.

Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and understand cycle of care patient system, ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and leaders, respecting traditional culture and ways of doing business, demonstrated organisational skills including ability to multi-task, plan, set and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, and work independently, efficiently and effectively, knowledge of and experience working with AGPAL, PIP IHI Revenue and MBS, interpersonal communication skills demonstrating problem-solving and negotiation skills, demonstrated interpersonal skills with focus on client-focused outcomes.
