Operational Leadership Role

This role involves overseeing the management of workforce requirements, coordinating training and development initiatives, planning logistics, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and leading team management. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing organisational processes, supporting quality management, and contributing to the overall success of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage recruitment for the maintenance hub and ensure operational requirements are met in accordance with National Observing Operations procedures.
  • Track staff competencies, analyse training needs, and provide appropriate training to staff.
  • Support field technicians and schedulers with trip organisation and logistics.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and guidance in the course of work.
  • Provide line management by mentoring, managing, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Undertake occasional site inspections and maintenance of field equipment.
  • Coordinate response from subject matter experts and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support organisational change, manage documentation, SharePoint sites, and support Quality Management systems.
  • Ensure the smooth running of hub operations and undertake administrative tasks such as finance reconciliations, invoicing, procurement, inventory records, stores, and stock control.
  • Occasional travel away from home base is a part of this role.
  • Participate in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of products and services and the ongoing development, implementation, and continual improvement of the quality management system.
  • Comply with all Bureau work, health, safety, and environment policies and procedures.
