About this Disability Support Role

This Disability Support Worker role involves working in Supported Independent Living (SIL) to support people with disability in shared housing or their own homes. The successful candidate will provide personal care and daily living assistance, and work across a 24/7 roster.

Experience supporting participants with Behaviours of concern is essential for this position. Additionally, the ability to work night shifts and sleep over shifts is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate iPads and digital tools into clients' daily routines to enhance communication, recreation, and client-led supports.
  • Support clients with complex needs, including physical and verbal behaviours of concern, using proactive strategies and clear communication.
  • Implement person-centred active support and behavioural support plans, showing initiative, flexibility, and a strong understanding of complex behaviour support.
  • Assist clients with daily personal care routines, including bathing, shaving, and toileting.
  • Encourage community participation, which may include one-on-one support within the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Hold an unrestricted driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Be willing to drive a company van where required for transportation.
  • Commit to working flexibly throughout the week, including public holidays.
  • Demonstrate competency in basic technology usage on mobile and desktop platforms.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011, or be willing to obtain it.
