About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Strategic Advocacy and Research Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence our evidence-based social change campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Advocacy and Research, you will play a key role in developing and implementing research agendas, building partnerships with academic institutions and government bodies, and designing effective advocacy strategies.

Job Description

  • Develop and Implement Research Agenda: Lead the design and coordination of a comprehensive research agenda to support key advocacy priorities.
  • Partnerships: Create and manage partnerships with academic institutions, government bodies, and social sector organisations to support research, policy, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Government Relations: Design and implement a government relations strategy, developing advocacy materials and presenting evidence-based, client-informed solutions.
  • Strategic Advocacy Plan: Develop and implement a structured program of work to enhance our state-based advocacy platform.
  • Reporting and Coordination: Establish research and evidence-based reporting capabilities, facilitate roundtable meetings, and engage with stakeholders to gather and analyse data.
  • Mentorship: Establish internship and student placement programs, supervising and supporting their project work relating to research and advocacy.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in influencing government policy and advocacy.
  • Proven experience in developing and overseeing research projects.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including government agencies, academic institutions and community organisations.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive and positive relationships.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, personal resilience, and the ability to work proactively with limited supervision.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Masters, PhD, or similar qualification demonstrating research skills.
  • Experience in the Not-For-Profit sector and/or government.
  • Success in applying for grant funding.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary package, including:

$123,456 - $145,000 per annum
