The role of a Project Manager in our organization is to oversee the promotion and dispersal of non-accessioned works of art gifted to us.

Key Responsibilities:
  • We are seeking an individual who can develop a strategy for dispersing these works through gifts, exhibitions, and auctions.
  • This includes coordinating the handling, exhibition, storage, care, and onward dispersal of non-accessioned works of art.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the cataloguing and documentation of non-accessioned gifts and bequest items adhere to best practices.
  • Effective stock management of non-accessioned works of art is also key to this role.
  • Rationalizing gifts and bequests for transfer to other collections and working with our team on stock management for sale and exhibition will be essential duties.
  • The preservation of artworks to maintain their condition for onward exhibition, gift, or sale is crucial.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating our storage site and directing art handling procedures.
  • Collaboration with marketing colleagues to enhance artist profile and legacy development will also be required.
  • Liaising with other collections, commercial galleries, and auctioneers for opportunities related to non-accessioned works of art held by us will be a key aspect of this role.
  • Coordinating gifts of non-accessioned artworks to other collections will also be a duty.
  • Managing exhibitions at partner galleries and museums will be an exciting opportunity.
  • Collating, managing, and documenting the consignment of artworks to partner galleries and museums will be another key responsibility.
  • Overseeing information management, digitization, image processing, and preservation of non-accessioned works according to requirements will be essential.
  • Assisting in developing and delivering an income strategy for enhancing non-accessioned gifts dispersal will be a valuable contribution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a museum or gallery setting.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with art handling procedures and storage facilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
