Job Description

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a skilled professional to implement, maintain, and optimize control systems used in automation and process control.

This role integrates into a multi-disciplined team providing technical support services for automation and telemetry infrastructure.

The incumbent will manage a team of external technicians in maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying control systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that safety, customer, and environmental risks are effectively managed.
  2. Develop project plans and scheduling of associated maintenance tasks to ensure appropriate resource allocation and timings are met.
  3. Manage specialist subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure that all works meet client-set response, rectification times, and associated KPIs.
  4. Oversee quality control processes and work with team QA functions to lead operational and maintenance design reviews for new control system assets.
  5. Assist and review development and modification of control systems software applications (HMI and PLC), plus database management and associated integrations.
  6. Provide troubleshooting and triage support.
  7. Work with the cybersecurity and IT team to ensure compliance through the implementation of best practices, including vulnerability assessments and other associated IT tasks with network security stakeholders.
  8. Communicate/negotiate with internal and external stakeholders while representing and effectively managing the interests of the organization.
  9. Lead the development/use of information and management systems for the delivery of operational activities and programs.

About You:

We seek an individual with comprehensive knowledge and experience in control systems and/or related disciplines and how they integrate into an operational environment.

Key requirements include:

  • Ability to quickly pick up differing software and hardware programming and configurations.
  • Qualification in Engineering i.e. Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Trade Certificate-3 or Certificate-4 Unrestricted Electrical Licence (desirable).
  • Valid QLD drivers license.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years' control systems or associated discipline experience.
  • Highly developed problem-solving, lateral thinking, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
