About the Role

AusNet Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Lead Connections Planning Engineer to join our Network Strategy & Planning team. This role will play a key part in the development of our sub-transmission network to accommodate embedded generators, storage, and large load connections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the network planning activities associated with the development of D-REZs (Distribution Renewable Energy Zones) to accommodate embedded generators, storage, and large loads in AusNet's sub-transmission network.
  • Undertake comprehensive network planning processes to assess network capabilities, assess emerging limitations and issues, and initiate actions to address them.
  • Develop strategies to maximise the utilisation of our sub-transmission network, including increasing load and generation connections.
  • Monitor and address compliance and initiation of necessary actions for 66kV generators.
  • Produce network investment plans and proposals for the regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks.
Requirements
  • Degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or equivalent.
  • Years of experience in the energy industry, preferably with some in utilities.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and robust experience in electricity network planning.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in end-to-end grid connection process, including GPS, R0, R1, and R2 processes.
  • Strong understanding of Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A of the NER and its application to network design.
  • Expertise in using electricity network analysis tools and interpreting results.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
