We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director to lead our Payroll and Aurion System Administration teams. As a key member of our Shared Services Branch, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality payroll services and managing the Aurion system.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services
- Handle escalations, prepare complex correspondence, and provide accurate and timely advice to clients
- Work closely with colleagues to identify and implement payroll and Aurion system priorities and project activities
- Ensure appropriate information is communicated and implemented effectively within the team
- Engage, liaise, and negotiate with payroll and HR stakeholders at all levels within the Department, NIAA, and external providers
- Interpret and apply legislation and related policies and guidelines to enable practical application in accurate payroll service delivery
- Provide advice on highly complex and/or sensitive payroll transactions
- Manage workloads and monitor the progression and delivery of work priorities
- Provide supervision, performance management, training, and coaching to team members
- Routinely review payroll processes and procedures to ensure they remain accurate and contemporary
- An in-depth understanding of the APS legislative framework, including the ability to interpret and apply legislation, related policies, and guidelines relating to APS employment in the Payroll context
- A proven ability to supervise and manage a team in the successful provision of quality payroll services
- Sound written and oral communications skills
- A demonstrated capacity to facilitate cooperative and collaborative relationships and consult and engage with staff, clients, and stakeholders
- A demonstrated ability to manage surge work and larger Payroll projects to deliver high-quality outcomes
- A positive approach to drive process improvement, team planning, and performance management activities
- A demonstrated high standard of professionalism and integrity
