**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
Reporting to the Director of the Skills Compliance Assurance team, the Assistant Director leads a small team that is responsible for supporting the Skills and Training Compliance Framework, establishing, and maintaining the Skills and Training Compliance Strategy, specific program compliance strategies and Assurance Plans.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for either project work and briefings as directed, that support the Branch’s Business Plan and Executive or leading the provision of secretariat support to the Skills and Training Compliance Governance Committee.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the EL1 may include:
- Work with Program and Compliance teams to develop compliance strategies which are informed by risks, results of previous reviews and data analysis.
- Promote the compliance framework through engagement with stakeholders and education.
- Develop and facilitate the review of Compliance and Assurance plans that are informed by sound research including risk and data analysis, and engagement with various skills program areas.
- Develop and promote compliance education materials and training to support compliance knowledge across the Division.
- Build capability in a team environment through coaching and mentoring.
- Provide advice and reports on emerging risks and potential mitigation strategies.
- Provide Secretariat services for the Skills and Training Compliance Governance Committee and/or conduct assigned project work and prepared briefings as directed that support the Branch’s Business Plan and Executive.
