This role is based in the Central Queensland Region and involves supporting students to access learning and delivering inclusive education through paediatric occupational therapy in state schools.
Main Responsibilities:- We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who can utilize evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy knowledge and frameworks to assist schools in identifying and making reasonable adjustments and using inclusive teaching strategies.
- The successful candidate will collaborate with school leaders, teachers, other service providers, and the supervising occupational therapist to assess barriers to student learning and develop and implement occupational therapy services across schools.
- We require a highly skilled Occupational Therapist who can participate as an active member in education teams within schools to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy services that enhance learning outcomes for students with disability.
- The position involves delivering occupational therapy services in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, professional standards, and guidelines.
- We need someone who can monitor and assess occupational therapy services provided across schools, in consultation with the supervising occupational therapist, to ensure they improve student access and participation in education.
- The successful candidate will develop and implement best-practice assessment, program planning, intervention, and monitoring strategies for students with disability, in accordance with legislation, departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- We require an Occupational Therapist who can provide consultative occupational therapy services and resources to assist school leaders and staff, parents, and other professional peers to develop knowledge and skills to support students with disability.
- The position involves preparing written reports and maintaining records related to the delivery of occupational therapy services as required by the department.
- We seek an Occupational Therapist who can participate as a member of the school team in the planning and management of at-risk behaviors of students with the aim of preventing the use of restrictive practices, and where permitted, the prescription of mechanical restraint in accordance with the department's Restrictive Practices procedure.
- The role involves participating in service planning at a whole-school level and regional and state level.
- We require an Occupational Therapist who can participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of governance processes.
- The position involves participating in quality improvement and research activities enhancing occupational therapy services in schools.
- We need someone who can actively participate in professional development activities and clinical supervision to improve and ensure high-quality services are delivered based on contemporary best practice.
- The successful candidate will supervise university occupational therapy students.
