About the Role
The Business Development Manager will lead the end-to-end sales process, from initial proposal through to successful deal closure. They will engage with clients to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the utility industry.
This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker who can identify growth areas, emerging opportunities and key customer segments. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to align commercial strategies with product capabilities and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and grow market presence.
- Lead the end-to-end sales process, from initial proposal through to successful deal closure.
- Conduct in-depth market research and data analysis to identify growth areas, emerging opportunities and key customer segments.
- Regularly engage with clients to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the utility industry.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align commercial strategies with product capabilities and customer needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is highly regarded.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development or sales within the solar industry, specifically focused on utility-scale projects.
- Demonstrated success in securing deals and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets in the utility sector.
- Strong knowledge of ground-mounted solar technologies, including fixed tilt and tracking systems, with the ability to clearly articulate technical benefits to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Well-established network within the solar industry, especially in utility-scale project development.
- Exceptional negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills, with a strong track record of closing complex, high-value deals.
