About this Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled HSES Lead to join our team at Pact Packaging. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees and the communities we serve.

In this hands-on role, you will provide oversight and support for the implementation of our Health, Safety, and Environmental systems across our manufacturing facilities. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of health, safety, and environmental incidents and support sites with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action close-out
  • Support activities with external regulatory bodies, such as WorkSafe and EPA, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of our Group WHSE System
  • Plan and implement environmental, health, and safety programs
  • Identify common environmental, health, and safety hazards inherent at the site and establish guidelines for their control
  • Promote and champion a zero-harm culture by providing expert advice, support, and driving implementation of our Group WHSE System
  • Incident management
  • Establish risk management and risk mitigation programs
  • Monitor, interpret, and champion changes to the regulatory environment, including communication of relevant information to stakeholders
  • Support the development and coordination of strategies
  • Train and educate leaders on our safety management systems

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation, codes of practice, standards, and associated obligations in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in hazard identification, risk management, and incident investigation
  • Some experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems
  • High level of computer literacy and developed administrative skills
  • Commitment to sustainability
  • Operational experience working in manufacturing
  • High level of initiative and ability to work effectively and remotely from the team
