About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Education Specialist to join our team in the Metropolitan South Region, Early Childhood and State Schools Division.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the strategic vision of the department through knowledge of the Education strategy, Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student, Ready for the Future phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise and work effectively with a wide range of key stakeholders, including school senior schooling key leaders, Department of Small Business and Training (DESBT) VETiS personnel, and regional stakeholders.
  • Provide support for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system, Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS), Year 12 Certification and outcomes, senior schooling pathways, and career education.
  • Collaborate with regional stakeholders to monitor retention, attainment, and post-school destinations for every student in senior secondary through a shared case management approach.
  • Stay up-to-date with Curriculum/syllabus requirements of senior schooling set out by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) requirements set out by Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
Mandatory Requirements
  • Must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016.
  • Must have current full registration as a teacher.
  • Must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
