This senior legal position is a key role in our construction business, requiring a qualified lawyer with experience in construction law and contracts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial disputes, negotiation, and stakeholder management, as well as excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
They will be able to provide clear, pragmatic advice in a fast-paced environment and have a collaborative, commercial mindset with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal input across the tendering process, delivering accurate and high-quality advice that supports business objectives.
- Maintain a high standard of technical expertise, consistently meeting deadlines and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate complex legal matters clearly and accessibly, ensuring tender documentation is accurate and aligned with company standards.
- Deliver precise legal advice with clear recommendations, highlighting areas of uncertainty and ensuring risks are fully understood.
- Balance excellence with pragmatism by identifying and managing deviations from company benchmarks during tendering and contract negotiations.
- Engage and oversee external counsel and manage legal spend effectively.
- Qualified lawyer with 6-8 years of relevant post-admission experience.
- Current practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction.
- Proven in-house construction experience is essential.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating on behalf of a head contractor.
- Strong background in construction law, contracts, and commercial disputes.
- Ability to provide clear, pragmatic and solution-focused advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborative, commercial mindset with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
