Accounting Officer Job Opportunity

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to provide financial expertise and advice to ensure all work is completed in accordance with accounting standards and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as representative when dealing with insurance underwriters, brokers, legal representatives and claimants in relation to any insurance claims.
  • Prepare and coordinate Annual Insurance Renewal Proposals for the placement of all classes of insurances held by the organisation.
  • Monitor fringe benefits tax liability and provide advice on strategic opportunities.
  • Assist in overseeing financial services functions including support and training for staff.
  • Maintain Investment Register and assess regularly on opportunities to maximise return on investment.
  • Manage day-to-day banking transfers, BPays, liaison with banks, file uploads for payroll, accounts payable and direct debits and resolve payment disputes.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • C Class Manual Drivers Licence.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Accounting or equivalent relevant discipline, or three (3) years or more experience in a suitable accounting position.
  • Demonstrated application of technical experience and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in financial processes for tax, insurance and treasury, including legislative requirements.
  • Significant experience in a role with similar key responsibilities within a medium to large size organisation.
  • Proficient in the use of Technology One, Civica and MyData / Brightly software.
Desirable Skills:

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • High level of developed skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detailed knowledge of FBT and other Tax Laws and practice.
  • Working knowledge and experience of insurance claims and processing.
