Research Contracts Specialist Job Description

As a Research Contracts Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the university's leading research by coordinating the formation, negotiation and execution of research contracts with industry partners, other universities, funding organisations, government departments and relevant stakeholders.

This role is based at our Melbourne, Burwood or Geelong, Waurn Ponds Campus, with hybrid work arrangements that support your work-life balance. You will have opportunities to work on a wide range of projects and collaborate with a diverse group of people.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing research-related contracts with industry partners, other universities, research institutes, government and community groups;
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the university's partners across industry, government, community and the research sector;
  • Project managing the review, drafting and execution of contracts, including high-value, multi-party agreements;
  • Preparing recommendations on risk management and compliance regarding university policies, procedures and requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in commercial principles relating to contracts, including risk analysis and project costing within a university or other research organisation.

Excellent planning and organisational skills and demonstrable performance in a role requiring a high level of attention to detail are essential.
