Job Overview

This role is for a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing quality support and services to individuals with mental illness who reside in supported accommodation.

You will work closely with clients to develop personalized plans that promote their recovery, well-being, and independence. This will involve assisting them with daily living skills, encouraging healthy habits, and connecting them with community resources.

Responsibilities
  • Provide client-centered support that is sensitive, respectful, and empowering.
  • Assist clients in maintaining relationships that facilitate independent living.
  • Increase access and equity for clients within a collaborative recovery model of psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Encourage clients to practice self-care and make informed decisions about their lives.
  • Mentor clients in building positive relationships and using effective conflict resolution strategies.
Requirements
  • A minimum of Cert IV in mental health or a related discipline (preferably a diploma or bachelor's degree).
  • Demonstrated effective communication, empathy, and listening skills.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness.
  • Ability to think critically and remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Understanding of duty of care, privacy, and confidentiality principles.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Availability for overnight shifts and rotating 24/7 roster.
  • Eligibility for WWVP and NDIS worker screening clearance.
