Job Description

Job Title: Student Wellbeing Officer - Pastoral Care Specialist

Job Summary:

The Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Limited is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Wellbeing Officer to join our team. As a key member of our pastoral care team, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional well-being of students and promoting a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, teachers, and parents to address social and emotional needs.
  • Develop and implement educational, social, and emotional programs to support vulnerable or at-risk students.
  • Liaise with community service organizations to provide additional support services.
  • Mentor students and provide guidance on personal and social issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the pastoral care team to develop and implement school-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of a child-safe school culture.

Requirements:

  • Hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy.
  • Hold a minimum qualification or qualifications equivalent to or higher than a Certificate IV in a related field, including competencies in mental health and client referrals, and providing pastoral care and working with youth.
  • Complete the professional learning package in responding to and preventing cyberbullying within three months of commencing services.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience in providing support to children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to personal faith practice.

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in providing support to children and/or young people to address social and emotional needs.
  • Ability to support schools and teachers in identifying and developing educational, social, and emotional programs to support children and young people who are vulnerable or at risk.
  • Ability to liaise with community service organizations.
  • Experience in mentoring children and/or young people.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills with the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary pastoral care team.
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to personal faith practice.
