Advanced Drug Use Evaluation Specialist

The role of the Advanced Drug Use Evaluation Specialist is to provide a high-level specialist clinical pharmacy service, including training, education and contribution to clinical research and quality improvement projects. This position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of advanced level drug use evaluation and review within pharmacy services.

The position has clinical, managerial and educational components encompassing a range of specialised clinical areas. It requires providing high-level medication advice to other stakeholders, participation in the Drug Usage Committee and provision of clinical guidance and governance to the team in the review of Individual Patient Approvals and urgent requests.

This position evaluates and provides evidence of the effectiveness of interventions implemented as a result of the clinical audit cycle. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist clinical pharmacy service, including training and education to other healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement projects
  • Participate in the Drug Usage Committee and provide clinical guidance and governance to the team
  • Evaluate and provide evidence of the effectiveness of interventions implemented as a result of the clinical audit cycle
