Job Description

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join a state-wide project team focused on delivering specialised behavioural support to schools across the state. The Principal Advisor works collaboratively with school and regional staff to develop high-quality Individual Behaviour Support Plans and provides coaching and support to staff to implement these plans.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with regional experts and school staff to design high-quality curriculum supports for students.
  • Identify the needs of regional and school staff and provide evidence-based training, coaching and resources to ensure best practice in service delivery.
  • Lead and conduct specialised projects and research activities, relating to the delivery and continuous improvement of services within schools.
  • Foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Experience working in schools as a head of curriculum, head of inclusion, behaviour analyst, behaviour support practitioner or behaviour therapist.

About The Role

Candidate will be required to collaborate with regional and school teams to achieve strategic outcomes under Equity and Excellence. They will build capability across the state in the use of evidence-based strategies to increase student engagement at school. The role requires providing project planning and support to assist with the development and implementation of department strategic initiatives within Student Support, Behaviour. Candidate will also provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.
