Community Older Adult Mental Health Key Clinician

Northern Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Older Adult Mental Health Key Clinician to join our team. As a key clinician, you will provide assessment, treatment, and coordination of care for older adults with complex mental health issues, frailty, and/or co-morbidities who reside in their own homes or in residential aged care facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide brief interventions and medium to long-term treatment plans, working closely with consumers, carers, and family members to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
- Maintain a high standard of knowledge and skills in discipline-specific areas, with a focus on mental health for older adults.
- Have practiced in a community mental health setting for more than two years, with recent community experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to support consumers in developing and utilizing strategies and treatment modalities, and to access resources and support to enhance their recovery.
- Sound working knowledge of mental health for older adults, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively at all levels, and work well within small teams and autonomously.
- Ability to prioritize risk and attend to crises appropriately.
- A current driver's license is essential.
- Preference for previous work in Older Adult Mental Health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by older adults with a mental illness.
- Experience and good working knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.
- Proven ability and experience to work autonomously in a community Mental Health team.
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with a specialist mental health nursing qualification (or equivalent) or an allied Health mental health clinician equivalent (OT, SW, P with relevant endorsements, Aphra registration or eligible to be a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers).
