Job Overview

This locum role provides backfill for existing staff temporarily, allowing you to gain valuable experience in a geriatric ward and sub-acute rehabilitation unit setting.

The position is based at Mareeba Hospital, located approximately one hour's drive from Cairns, offering a unique blend of work and lifestyle opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients in community and hospital settings.
  • Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to promote recovery and independence.
  • Collaborate with other allied health staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, carers, families, and other service providers.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Initial and functional assessments, cognitive screening, home visits for safe discharge planning, task delegation to Allied Health Assistants, goal-setting, and participation in weekly multidisciplinary team case conferences.
  • Work across inpatient, outpatient clinic, and community settings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Able to meet QLD Health credentialing requirements.
  • At least 2 years' experience as an Occupational Therapist.
