About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy General Site Manager to join our team at Astrum Recruitment. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for the safe and smooth operation of the Snowy Hydro 2.0 project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure a strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture on site, monitoring, documenting, and reporting HSE activities.
  • Provide overall leadership of the Hydro Construction Site, establishing site processes and practices as per contract requirements, company standards, local regulations, and leading project management practices.
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with customers, union representatives, and stakeholders, fulfilling site contractual requirements and negotiating effectively with the client.
  • Develop and implement schedules to meet agreed internal and external milestones, ensuring proper work planning to allow critical path to be followed.
  • Document, control, and assess site status regarding costs and progress, establishing mitigation or recovery plans for cost overruns or schedule delays.
  • Identify, quantify, communicate, and align on risks and chances with the local project team and the Local Project Director.
  • Coordinate site activities (HSE, Quality, Production, Technical support, Site Services, Contract, Administration) and manage work across the site team members.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree (Civil or Mechanical)
  • Project Management degree (MBA, P. Eng. or similar)
  • HSE and Quality Mindset
  • Previous demonstrated experience in a Senior/Management level position, minimum of 10 years of experience in general site management or project management roles in large Hydro Power projects or in similar heavy industries.
  • Sound technical and operational knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning
  • Sound contractual knowledge
  • Being customer and people oriented, accountable, and solution driven.
  • Team player with strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial.

Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, providing 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market.
