Job Title: Marine Operations Leader

Job Description:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient navigation and operation of vessels, in accordance with standard company policies.

This position involves operating vessels as the Master in command, ensuring that service meets customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating vessels in a safe, efficient and effective manner;
  • Ensuring service meets customer and regulatory requirements;
  • Assisting in establishing, documenting, implementing and maintaining a quality SMS system;
  • Implementing safety and environmental protection policies;
  • Maintaining proficiency of the general arrangements, handling and control systems on board vessels;
  • Conducting formal vessel inspections covering safety equipment and general quality presentation of passenger/crew areas and facilities;
  • Compiling reports and providing advice to management regarding shipboard activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and experience working with, an integrated safety management system;
  • Strong knowledge of Acts and Statutory Regulations applicable to ferry operations and associated government legislation;
  • Experience operating vessels equivalent to those currently operated by Amity Trader;
  • Proven leadership skills with training and coaching abilities;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to direct and manage crew members;
  • Team player with a demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service.
Certifications:
  • Certificate of Competency (Master < 24 NC);
  • MED III Certificate;
  • Radio Operators Licence;
  • First Aid Certificate;
  • Current Drivers Licence.
