Driver Assistant Roles in Rail Operations

The role of a Driver Assistant is critical to the safe and efficient operation of rail services. As part of our team, you will work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control.

  • You will assist in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
  • Your training will be held in Rockhampton, where you will receive initial paid classroom and practical training (38 hours per week).

In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of rail services. You will be responsible for assisting train crew members with their duties, including monitoring train movements and performing safety checks.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Adaptability: You will be comfortable handling changing environments and challenges.
  • Reliability: You will be dependable in attendance, safety, and teamwork.
  • Eagerness to Learn: You will be keen to develop new skills in the rail industry.
  • Residency: You must reside in or near Gracemere, Qld.
  1. Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment.
  2. Current full Class C or higher Driver's Licence (no restrictions).
  3. Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  4. Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes).
  5. Basic computer skills.
  6. Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments.
