Water Treatment Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Water Treatment Specialist in our thermal coal operation. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to achieve planned production and offsite discharge targets within quality, cost, safety, and environmental parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the WTP to achieve planned production and offsite discharge targets within quality, cost, safety, and environmental parameters.
  • Undertake maintenance, record keeping, and inspection/reporting to effectively support WTP operations.
  • Monitor plant inventories for chemicals, consumables, and spares.
  • Perform and monitor process sampling and testing to scrutinize plant performance.
  • Work cohesively as an active team member of the WTP team.
  • Develop, improve, and follow operational practices to maximize plant efficiency and ensure safe and compliant production and distribution of potable water.
  • Carry out the production of potable water for distribution across the complex and assist in this distribution including monitoring, dosing, flushing, and emergency response when required.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or relevant trade qualifications or relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment processes.
  • Previous experience working with aspects of Water Quality Management Systems (Quality Assurance Plans, drinking water management plans etc.) and/or Maintenance Management Systems (SAP etc.).
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical hazards.
  • Recognized proficiency with chemical handling, storage, and dosing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of water quality requirements as they relate to potable water.
