Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Psychologist to join our team in a rewarding outreach opportunity working with youth. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessments and psychological support to students within the program.

About the Role: As a Psychologist in our multidisciplinary team, you will provide effective support for the wellbeing of students. You will be required to provide counselling, therapy, and support for students facing mental health, family, and emotional difficulties. You will also liaise and communicate effectively with parents/carers and internal and external professionals to ensure appropriate care of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessments and psychological support to students within the program
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with parents/carers and internal and external professionals
  • Provide counselling, therapy, and support for students facing mental health, family, and emotional difficulties
  • Respond to referrals and determine appropriate intervention
  • Provide consultative advice and support for the classroom team on how to respond to students
  • Assist the leadership team in development of programs addressing needs of students
  • Respond to crisis situations
  • Undertake psychological assessments and diagnosis

Requirements:

  • Full registration with APRHA
  • Victorian Working with Children card
  • Minimum 1 year's experience in assessments and diagnosis, preferably in a school environment or with adolescents and parents
  • Experience implementing mental health, wellbeing, and socio-emotional programs
  • Ability to successfully manage a number of diverse tasks in a busy school environment
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification
  • Masters in Psychology (Clinical)
