About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead the Health Information Management (HIM) team in the Queensland Government. As a Senior Health Information Manager, you will be responsible for supporting Hospital and Health Services in monitoring and meeting hospital activity targets for the financial year.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Advice and Guidance: Provide strategic advice to hospital executives, including Chief Financial Officers and Chief Executive Officers, on health information management practices and data capture.
  2. Statewide Initiatives: Lead statewide initiatives to enhance data capture and reporting, establish standards, and improve efficiency in Health Information Management practices.
  3. Team Leadership: Provide direct supervision and support to the Health Information Management Students and lead the statewide HIM and Clinical Coding team.
  4. Clinical Coding and Data Management: Perform various HIM tasks such as clinical coding, data validation, and medical records management.
  5. Project Management: Collaborate with the clinical coding solution project for a statewide coding platform implementation and chair working groups for the State HIM and Clinical Coding team and Statewide HIM-Clinical Coding Network.
  6. Quality Improvement: Oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of inpatient coded data for clinical safety monitoring.
  7. Communication and Collaboration: Support statewide workforce initiatives, engage in clinical liaison programs, and draft discussion papers and reports.
