Your role

You will be part of our outstanding Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys (PTA) Group and will work closely with attorneys and lawyers across all of our offices. As an IP Attorney, you will gain exposure to the most complex and interesting intellectual property matters in the market. You will advise clients from almost every sector, including healthcare, mining, advanced tech, and industrial manufacturers.

At Allens, our structure means that you will work with multiple Partners within your practice group and have access to a broad spectrum of work. We encourage our attorneys and lawyers to find their niche and specialise in areas they are interested in while building a strong foundation across their field of technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Australia and worldwide;
  • Providing IP portfolio management services to local innovators and international clients;
  • Participating in high-stakes patent oppositions and patent litigation;
  • Conducting freedom to operate searches and providing validity and infringement opinions;
  • Developing and implementing IP strategies in a global context.

Requirements

  • A PhD in organic chemistry or a related field;
  • Post-graduate qualifications and research or industry experience in your chosen field;
  • Experience in drafting and prosecuting patents in the chemical and pharmaceutical field;
  • An ability to effectively manage larger matters and collaborate with renowned leaders in IP.
