We're seeking a highly skilled Technical Leader to spearhead the development of our digital products and services.

As a key member of our agile product team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating high-quality, reliable, and scalable digital systems and software.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the technical design, deployment, and operation of features and improvements for our products and services.
  • Driving key initiatives to improve software engineering practices, capability, and skills informed by data, experiments, and frequent feedback.
  • Collaborating with engineers, product managers, designers, and leadership teams to maintain a high level of quality in a fast-paced and iterative environment.
  • Designing products that work at scale, reducing duplication, and optimizing development and delivery pipelines.
  • SUPPORTING the growth and effectiveness of engineers by providing coaching, enabling professional development, and encouraging knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Providing strategic guidance and engineering direction/expertise across multiple product portfolios, including facilitation and communication to bring teams together.

You will have:

  • A rich software engineering background, including experience in full stack software development with exposure to a broad range of technologies.
  • Experience in, or desire to learn, Extreme Programming (XP), including Test Driven Development and Pair Programming, and willingness to spread the values, principles, and practices underpinning this approach.
  • Collaboration: Strong product mindset, having worked closely with cross-disciplinary product teams.
  • Excellent understanding of systems thinking and technical design - we'd love to see some experience applying technical design skills in large or complex ecosystems.
  • Security-minded. You have a passion for security by design, and exposure to or interest in security engineering as a concept.
  • Leadership: You foster effective working relationships with people and teams at all levels, using an approach grounded in empathy and curiosity.
  • Customer-focused and engaged: You communicate effectively, manage stakeholders well, and take ownership of delivering valuable outcomes for those who use your software.

You'll be proficient in:

  • A tech stack based on Drupal, PHP, and React.
  • One or more modern programming languages and frameworks such as Kotlin, Java (Springboot or Android), JavaScript/TypeScript, or React Native), and/or Golang, along with modern testing frameworks.
