Job Opportunity: Education Support Specialist

The role of the education support specialist involves providing assistance to teachers in educational programs, including routine tasks and specialized student/teacher support.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as a sound knowledge of basic technical principles. The individual will also have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines and supporting communication between teachers and parents
  • Supporting teachers in the coordination of educational programs, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides
  • Providing basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting
  • Communicating with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
  • Addressing immediate behavioral presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure
  • Providing basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of basic technical principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of child development principles and practices
