Job Title: Commercial Investment Manager

AusNet Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Investment Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Development & Future Networks (D&FN) team, you will play a critical role in pricing, negotiating, and executing commercial deals related to the growth of our contracted infrastructure portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of commercial risks through effective pricing, contracting, and insurance strategies.
  • Negotiate with customers to ensure project-wide value is optimized and realized across all parties involved in the transaction while mitigating risks.
  • Prepare investment business cases for new investment opportunities in preparation for executive and board review.
  • Present approval papers and business cases to relevant executives and delegates in seeking approvals specific to new infrastructure deals or variations.
  • Liaise with and build trusting relationships across the AusNet Services business with various internal stakeholders and ensure stakeholders are well-informed during the negotiation process.
  • Lead objective commercial and pricing build-up and provide commercial insights to the AusNet D&FN team.
  • Oversee communications between suppliers and contractors to ensure that AusNet D&FN can deliver projects within time and budget with sufficient contractual protections.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, law, engineering, or an associated discipline.
  • Completion of postgraduate studies (e.g., MBA, ICAA, CPA) and/or chartered environment experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial negotiations.
  • Further experience in financial management in the energy industry or critical infrastructure is favorable.
  • Well-versed in corporate finance principles and infrastructure asset pricing.
  • Detailed understanding of and ability to negotiate contracts, manage contracts, and properly allocate risks across various stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytically minded.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that evidence a high capacity to influence at all levels, including executives.
  • Ability to work within and contribute to a team with team members across various disciplines, including finance, commercial, technical, and delivery.
  • Good interpersonal skills that enable communication and work with all levels of internal stakeholders and external customers and suppliers.
