About the Opportunity

Csiro is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join our Sustainable Marine Futures Research Group in Hobart. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to research on migratory fish stocks and sharks across the Indo-Pacific, working closely with our Environment Research Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research leading to scientific achievements aligned with CSIRO's strategies.
  • Develop and apply advanced research methods, including data analysis, model development, and fieldwork.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve research objectives and contribute to the development of evidence-based management strategies.
  • Represent CSIRO externally, including in public forums, and present research findings in a meaningful format.
Requirements
  • PhD in environmental science, natural resource modelling or management, mathematics or statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake original, creative, and innovative research.
  • Strong computer programming skills in R, C++, or similar language.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
