About the Role
This position is part of a small team conducting fisheries and ecosystem research at the Australian Antarctic Division to ensure comprehensive operational and biological data are collected from Australia's Southern Ocean fisheries.
The team aims to enhance the understanding of Australia's Southern Ocean fisheries by analysing biological and ecological data, providing timely and robust scientific advice for the management of Southern Ocean fisheries.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outcome-focused fisheries research
- Maintain expertise and peer recognition in fisheries science
- Effectively communicate research outputs to scientists, industry, fisheries management, and environmental NGOs
- Represent Australia at CCAMLR meetings as required
- Seek external resources to support and enhance high-priority strategic research
