Electrical Design Drafter

As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing support to Electrical Designers and the control system engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately draft electrical control schematics for assigned projects that meet our drawing standards.

With independence to prepare drawings from concept to customer stage, you will resolve problems as they arise while keeping the Electrical Designer informed. Delivering projects on time and within budget is expected, and you may also undertake estimates for smaller projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or Microstation, with experience in designing and developing industrial electrical control systems for automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce drawings and equipment lists for PLC, Safety and control systems using packages such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or Microstation.
  • Prepare all aspects of drawing sets, structure, content and associated drawings for complex units/assemblies for whole projects.
  • Draft complex PLC and network control architecture considering safety and quality requirements.
  • Retrieve and apply information supplied by Electrical Designers, Engineers and customers to prepare and revise drawing specifications.
  • In consultation with Electrical Designers, continuously review project specifications and customer requirements to ensure conformance with specifications, quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee project tasks and budgets and regularly communicate progress to Electrical Designers.
  • Ability to prepare schematics for electrical control projects that do not conform to existing precedents.
Requirements:
  • Australian drivers license.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or Microstation.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (highly regarded).
