Procurement Specialist
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Procurement Specialist, responsible for the proactive management of procurement and inventory activities across our business.
The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to achieve best possible outcomes in terms of total cost of ownership, cash flow, quality, and safety. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and maintenance of qualified supplier records through regular reviews and assessments
- Creation and management of purchasing documentation, including requisitions, quotations, purchase orders, vendor requests, and supplier lists
- Acting as the single point of contact for supplier and subcontractor communications across all our sites
- Coordination of Quality Notification activities related to 3rd party suppliers and subcontractors
- Control of all documentation and records associated with the purchasing function
- Proposal and implementation of improvement programs to measure supplier delivery performance and drive corrective actions
- Coordination of vendor requests and NCRs in procurement notifications
- Development of creative and proactive solutions to expedite materials and spare parts as required
- Preparation and maintenance of quote records for procured items
- Collaboration with finance/commercial teams to provide accurate invoice details for monthly cut-off deadlines
- Ensuring client commitments are met with respect to quality and on-time delivery of goods
- Forming and maintaining strategic supplier relationships
- Working closely with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams
- Identifying process bottlenecks and implementing timely solutions
- Maintenance of a savings register to track performance against annual savings targets
- Ensuring all overdue purchase orders are actioned promptly and resolved in coordination with buyers
Key qualifications and skills include:
- Minimum Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- At least 5-6 years' relevant experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Mining, Maritime, and Defence industries
- Proven experience in procurement and inventory management, ideally within a technical or engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of supplier relationship management and contract negotiation
- Ability to implement procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, and delivery performance
- Excellent organisational and documentation skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across multiple departments and with external stakeholders
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience such as SAP, Navision or Ostendo (desirable)
- Proactive problem-solving approach with demonstrated ability to streamline processes and improve performance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
