Position Overview
In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, the High Voltage Lead will play a crucial part in supporting service teams responsible for large-scale battery energy storage systems. As the representative of the company, you will oversee the commissioning and execution of electrical service projects across various locations, primarily along the eastern seaboard, necessitating occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the High Voltage Authorised Person (HVOA) for the organization throughout Australia.
- Manage and enforce high voltage safety protocols.
- Supervise the execution of electrical safety measures and operational high voltage switching.
- Ensure project compliance with relevant standards, including conducting necessary training for project teams.
- Support the operations team in maintaining electrical infrastructure.
- Provide guidance on audits, compliance, commissioning, and installation of high voltage equipment.
- Assist in the safe use of various high voltage testing apparatus.
- Review and enhance maintenance procedures.
- Document and maintain comprehensive records of high voltage operations.
Qualifications and Skills
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess the following:
- A tertiary or trade qualification complemented by relevant experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of high voltage electrical experience within large-scale commercial and industrial settings, as well as the utility sector.
- Experience with substations, solar, wind, or energy storage systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with network authorities across Australia.
- High Voltage Switching certification.
- CPR and Low Voltage Rescue qualifications.
- Experience with SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in procedural development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to interpret manufacturing instructions, electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- A valid driver's license.
