Role of Hospital and Health Board Chairs and Members

Hospital and Health Boards oversee healthcare delivery across 16 regions with the leadership role of Board Chairs and members crucial in their local communities.

The key responsibilities include ensuring efficient, effective, and responsive services to community needs while being accountable to the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services.

This is a non-executive position requiring expertise in one or more areas including health management, business management, human resource management, clinical expertise, legal expertise, primary healthcare, health consumer and community engagement, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and community issues.

Candidates must demonstrate exceptional commercial acumen, strong governance expertise, confidence, and connections to strengthen local community engagement and collaborative partnerships, leadership, and strategic thinking, personal integrity, resilience, and collaboration.

Applicants will also have strong ties to the health service region or be available to travel to HHS communities if located outside the region.
