Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced scientific researcher to join our metrology team. As a research analyst, you will be responsible for conducting commercial analysis of substances prohibited by WADA using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (high and low resolution) and/or liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (high and low resolution).

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment and instrumentation used within an analytical chemistry laboratory.

You will also possess a working knowledge of the ISO 17025 accreditation requirements, WADA International Standard for Laboratories, and technical documents related to operations of laboratory and the analysis of small molecules prohibited by WADA.

Additionally, you will have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work productively in a team and independently to ensure smooth workflow for the team.

About the Role:

This position is part of the Chemical and Biological Metrology Branch that provides measurement standards such as certified reference materials, pure chemicals, gas standards, matrix materials, and DNA standards.

The branch also coordinates proficiency testing programs to assist laboratories assess their ongoing quality and performance.

About the Team:

The Australian Sports Drug Testing Laboratory (ASDTL) is the only World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory conducting the testing of athlete samples in the Oceania region as well as conducting research in the field of human sports anti-doping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct commercial analysis of substances prohibited by WADA
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate equipment and instrumentation
  • Work with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements and WADA International Standard for Laboratories
