We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Research Professional to lead our laboratory team. As a key member of our scientific staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the scientific aspects of standard work processes and output results in our testing laboratories.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Scientific Research Professional. The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory science and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Provide training and assessments to enhance capability by sharing knowledge and education.
  • Promote ongoing education in immunohaematology and/or virology through collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with production supervisors to schedule training sessions and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into off-track sample results and oversee adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Lead deviation investigations where procedure or process failure occurs, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve routine screening results within agreed timeframes, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Perform start-of-day control checks for Alinity and NEO instruments, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Release manual results for Alinity-I instruments, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Investigate potential thrombocytopenia cases through microscopic examination, and provide expert advice to stakeholders.
  • Participate in the blood grouping discrepancy incident management team as an immunohaematology scientist, providing technical expertise.
  • Review outcomes of manual blood grouping and NEO panel interpretation, and make recommendations for improvement.
