Job Title:

 

The Engineering Team Lead is a key role in our organisation that offers an exciting opportunity for individuals to develop their leadership skills and contribute to the success of the engineering operation.

This role supports the delivery of operational targets, ensuring vehicle availability and compliance while maintaining performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team to ensure safe, timely, and efficient maintenance, servicing, repairs, and cleaning of the fleet.
  • Assist in workload planning and resource allocation to optimise garage performance.
  • Maintain accurate work documentation and oversee proper sign-off procedures.
  • Deliver regular team briefings and shift handovers using effective communication strategies.
  • Monitor and assist in reducing vehicle breakdowns and lost mileage by focusing on preventative maintenance and performance improvement.

Person Specification:

  • Strong engineering background, ideally within heavy vehicles or plant machinery, with experience in maintenance, servicing, or overhaul.
  • Recognised apprenticeship, vocational qualification, or relevant degree/diploma in engineering, vehicle maintenance, or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and commitment to best practice.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.

Requirements:

A strong understanding of technical processes, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. A proactive approach to improving efficiency and effectiveness, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
