Job Summary

AFL Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wills and Estates Lawyer to join our client's team as a Senior Associate/Special Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wills and estates law, with a focus on high net worth clients.

About the Role

As a Senior Associate/Special Counsel in the Wills and Estates team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to clients on a range of matters, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate, succession planning, asset protection, guardianship, and administration of deceased estates. You will also be involved in litigating Family Provision Act claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate, succession planning, asset protection, guardianship, and administration of deceased estates.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including high net worth individuals and families.
  • Collaborate with other lawyers and professionals to achieve business objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and case law, and apply this knowledge to provide expert advice to clients.

Requirements

  • Admitted as a lawyer in NSW with a minimum of 6 years post-admission experience.
  • Strong background in wills and estates law, with a focus on high net worth clients.
  • Accredited Specialist in succession law or have attained/studying a Graduate Diploma of Applied Law (Wills and Estates) or Master of Laws specializing in Wills/Estates.
  • Strong time prioritization, people/leadership, and client management skills.
  • Results-focused, proactive, and have a strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Enjoy building relationships and networking, with experience in new client development and marketing.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and legal software skills.
