Senior Clinical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team at Gold Coast Private Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our patient records, enabling our clinical team to provide the highest standards of medical care.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver exceptional coding services by accurately and efficiently assigning ICD-10-AM codes for patient discharges across all specialties.
- Provide excellent customer service to the department by assisting with medical record management activities and general administration duties as required.
- Support Healthscope's safety and quality improvement initiatives by actively participating in department meetings, coding audits, quality and risk reduction activities, and accreditation preparation events.
- Ensure compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Act as a valued and respected member of the team by promoting a professional and positive team culture, providing coding and documentation advice and education to clinical and non-clinical staff, and demonstrating attention to detail and time management.
- HIMAA Certification in Clinical Coding or other recognized Clinical Coding course with experience in ICD-10-AM and ACHI according to ACS and National and State clinical coding advice and Queensland Health guidelines to meet data reporting requirements.
- At least 1+ years of clinical coding experience within a hospital setting.
- Sound understanding of Codefinder and Turbocoder.
- Strong organizational skills in planning, prioritizing, and managing workloads.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Sound knowledge of private sector funding models.
- Demonstrated understanding of WebPAS patient information system preferred but not essential.
