About the Role:

VegetablesWA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the association and drive the vegetable industry of Western Australia to become a billion-dollar industry by 2030.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and achieve strategic planning and overall leadership of the Association, ensuring it fulfills its vision and purpose.
  • Provide leadership on strategic industry development with active engagement across the supply chain.
  • Manage project contracts with funding and delivery partners.
  • Develop strategic projects that deliver on grower priority needs.
  • Grow the Association's engagement with members.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Association.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the State Government, the Federal government, other industry groups, key stakeholders, and the community to actively promote the Association's priorities and objectives.
  • Represent the Association and growers at industry and government forums.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and experience in business management and a proven ability in leadership roles.
  • A background in the Horticulture or Agricultural industry would be considered favourably.
  • Demonstrated corporate governance ability in managing and operating an association regarding its constitutional requirements, financial and membership management and understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively develop and communicate messages in a clear and articulate manner and the ability to listen to stakeholders' views.
  • Demonstrated resource management skills in a small office environment with the ability to think laterally and strategically to build stakeholder engagement.
  • High level organisational and interpersonal skills, empathetic and emotionally intelligent.
  • High degree of awareness, understanding of the political, social and economic environment of the industry.
  • Resilient and proactive in nature, a relationship builder that listens to a broad range of views, driving consensus and action.
  • Passionate about the horticultural industry and making a difference for growers.
