About Us

AGL is a leading energy provider in Australia, committed to delivering sustainable solutions for our customers.

We are currently seeking a Sustainability and Safety Professional to join our Energy Hubs, Power Development and Construction HSE team in Newcastle.

About the Role

  • You will play a crucial role in supporting our energy transformation journey, working closely with the Energy Hubs development portfolio as we continue to develop renewable energy sources and reduce our carbon footprint.
  • As part of our Climate Transition Action Plan, you will assist in implementing strategies and initiatives to close thermal power generation assets and replace them with renewable energy and battery storage assets.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Energy Hubs, Power Development and Construction Teams to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  2. Support the development, implementation, and assurance of strategies, programs, and initiatives at AGL sites, including major construction projects.
  3. Assist in reviewing HSE requirements for RFPs and tenders for major construction projects.
  4. Manage verification and assurance of contractor performance, providing quantitative analysis of trends and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
  5. Partner with business unit teams to share learnings, offer solutions, and provide assurance/compliance with HSE requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety, Environment, or a related field; Diploma or above.
  • Experience in assisting the implementation of health and safety management systems in complex multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Demonstrated auditing and risk management skills in contracting environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.

You have a passion for sustainability and a commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
