About the Role:

Clinical Laboratory Consultants (CLCs) play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of clinical laboratory testing within New York State. As a CLC, you will be responsible for conducting on-site evaluations of laboratory staff qualifications and testing procedures, including the evaluation of facility standard operating procedure manuals and review of laboratory records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate laboratory staff qualifications and testing procedures to ensure compliance with New York State laws and regulations.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of laboratory facilities to assess their ability to perform high-quality testing.
  • Review and evaluate facility standard operating procedure manuals to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Document findings in descriptive narratives and laboratory evaluation reports.
  • Determine the acceptance of a facility's proposed remediation by reviewing the plan of correction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemical or biological science, or a related field.
  • Three years of post-bachelor's professional experience in a clinical laboratory or related field.
  • A master's or doctoral degree may substitute for one or two years of experience, respectively.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, quality assurance, audits, and applicable New York State laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
